Wish Fund

Updated: Nov 22, 2022

October means many things in the North Country. Cooler weather, falling leaves, trick or treat, apple festivals and, usually, the promise of snow sooner than later. But for North Country REALTORS it also means the annual Wish Fund Charity Auction. Or at least it normally does. I know, nothing is normal right now. Which is why the auction will not be happing this year. (But please plan on joining us next year). However, I wanted to make sure to get the word out about this wonderful program!

The Wish Fund grants wishes for terminally ill adults living in Clinton, Essex or Franklin Counties in New York. Similar concept to Make a Wish. This fund is specifically for adults and is local to the North Country. The fund was created in 2016 through a donation by the Clinton County Board of Realtors (“CCBR”) to The Foundation of CVPH. CCBR partners with the CVPH Foundation to help manage the funds and application process.

The original donation and dream of granting wishes was spearheaded by REALTOR Mary Fry. She lost her battle with cancer in 2019 but was able to see her dream become a reality. Co-chairs of the Wish Fund Charity Auction Committee of the Clinton County Board of REALTORS, Sarah Stansbury & Kenna Felio, have taken over the reins to make sure we continue this wonderful program. With a dedicated team and tremendous community support from businesses to individuals, we have granted 23 wishes since inception.

CCBR & The Foundation of CVPH want to make sure that our communities know that even though the auction is canceled this year, we are still able to grant wishes from funds raised in years past. The Wish Fund is still here to support the North Country.

Please help us get the word out. If you know of any adult in your community that may be a good candidate, please urge them to complete the application. Or better yet, print it out and help them do so. If approved wishes can be up to a value of $4,000. Some wishes that have been granted include, a BBQ, seasonal camping site, overnight stay with family in Lake Placid & a trip to Disney. You can find more information and the application here. Completed applications should be turned into The Foundation of CVPH located at 75 Beekman Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901.

Thank you for all the support we’ve received for this program! And we look forward to seeing you at the Wish Fund Charity Auction in 2022.
