The Wish Fund

October means many things in the North Country. Cooler weather, falling leaves, trick or treat, apple festivals and, usually, the promise of snow sooner than later. But for North Country REALTORS it also means preparing for the annual Wish Fund Charity Auction.

The Wish Fund in grants wishes for terminally ill adults living in Clinton, Essex or Franklin Counties in New York. Similar concept to Make a Wish. This fund is specifically for adults and is local to the North Country. The fund was created in 2016 through a donation by the Adirondack Champlain Valley REALTORS (“ACVR”) to The Foundation of CVPH. ACVR partners with the CVPH Foundation to help manage the funds and application process.

The original donation and dream of granting wishes was spearheaded by REALTOR Mary Fry. She lost her battle with cancer in 2019 but was able to see her dream become a reality. The Wish Fund Charity Auction Committee of the Adirondack Champlain Valley REALTORS, continue this wonderful program. With a dedicated team and tremendous community support from businesses to individuals, we have granted 33 wishes since inception.

In addition to those wishes, The Wish Fund was proud to sponsor the Honor Flight on October 4, 2025. It was an incredible opportunity to support our Veterans.

How can you help this good work continue?

You can donate an auction item, buy raffle tickets for a chance to win cash prizes or show up to the auction and show your support! Follow our Facebook page, The Wish Fund, for more information.

This year’s auction will take place on Thursday, November 6th at Olive Ridleys. Happy Hour starts at 5pm, the Silent Auction will be open from 5pm to 6:30pm, and the Live Auction begins at 6:45pm.  Donation is $10 charge at the door.  You will receive your Auction Paddle, a FREE Beverage, and appetizers.

Please help us get the word out. If you know of any adult in your community that may be a good candidate, please urge them to complete the application. Or better yet, print it out and help them do so. If approved wishes can be up to a value of $5,000. Some wishes that have been granted include, a BBQ, seasonal camping site, overnight stay with family in Lake Placid & a trip to Disney.
